This behavior represents a serious abuse of power. The driver posed no threat to public safety. They were experiencing a personal emergency and acted responsibly by signaling their situation with flashers and heading directly to the vet. Instead of offering assistance, Officer Romero escalated the encounter, traumatizing the individuals involved at a moment when they needed support, not hostility.

I urge you to:

• Launch an immediate and transparent investigation into Officer Romero’s conduct.

• Take disciplinary action up to and including termination if the allegations are confirmed.

• Reaffirm that law enforcement officers in Arkansas are expected to act with professionalism, restraint, and compassion at all times.

Public trust in law enforcement cannot exist without accountability. Allowing this type of behavior to go unchecked endangers both citizens and the reputation of the police. Please act swiftly to ensure justice and restore faith in Arkansas law enforcement.
