The Issue
Publix once gave Floridians something truly special during hurricane season: the Hurricane Cake.
These weren’t just cakes. They were edible morale boosters — a wink, a laugh, and a little comfort while we stocked up on bottled water and batteries. They reminded us that even when the wind howls and the rain pours, Floridians face the storm with resilience and humor.
But for reasons unknown, Publix stopped making them. And frankly, the reasons don’t matter as much as what we lost: a tradition that lifted spirits and made hurricane prep just a little brighter.
Our Demand
We’re calling on Publix to bring back the Hurricane Cake — not just as dessert, but as a symbol of community, tradition, and a uniquely Floridian way of weathering the storm together.
Why It Matters
- They boosted morale during stressful times.
- They became a lighthearted tradition that many families looked forward to.
- They’re a part of Publix’s unique relationship with Florida and its people.
Hurricane season is tough enough. Let’s make it sweeter again.
