What are donations used for?
When you donate to the SignItNow Foundation (“the Foundation”), you make an unrestricted gift that supports our mission: building tools, training, and support for citizen-led campaigning (with a focus on communities that most need a voice). Learn more on our Foundation About page.
Tax note: Benefits vary by country. Please check with your local tax advisor.
How do I donate after supporting a petition?
A donations portal appears on a petition once it reaches a minimum number of signatures (thresholds vary by location and other factors). If you started the petition, we’ll email you when donations become available.
How it works:
- Click Donate on the petition page.
- Choose an amount.
- Enter your payment details.
- You’ll get a confirmation once payment is processed.
Who receives the funds?
Donations are collected by SignItNow (the platform) as agent for the SignItNow Foundation. We pass 100% of donations to the Foundation to support its mission.
How will SignItNow show the petition to more people?
After signing, some supporters may be invited to donate. In gratitude for donations to the Foundation, SignItNow features the selected petition to additional potential supporters. The more you (and others) chip in, the more impressions we can deliver across SignItNow and our distribution channels.
You’ll receive feedback on the extra exposure your donation helped create. You can also continue sharing petitions for free via social and email—donations simply extend reach beyond your personal network.
What payment processors does SignItNow use?
We use Stripe for card payments and Braintree/PayPal for PayPal. All payments are processed under each provider’s Terms of Service.
Does SignItNow save my financial information?
No. Neither SignItNow nor the SignItNow Foundation store your full card details. If you choose, Stripe may securely save your card for faster checkout in the future. PayPal transactions are completed on PayPal’s site; SignItNow does not handle PayPal card data.
Do I pay additional transaction fees?
No. Third-party processor fees are covered on our side—you’re charged only the amount you choose to donate. (Your bank may apply currency/foreign-transaction fees; check with your bank.)
Refund policy
If you’re unhappy with a donation-driven promotion outcome or donated in error, we’ll refund within 3 months of payment.
Email contact@signitnow.org with your receipt and the petition link.
We aim to deliver the estimated impressions associated with your donation. In rare cases (e.g., the petition wins, becomes inactive, or violates our Community Guidelines), the exact number may vary. We may decline refunds in cases of abuse.
Is the SignItNow Foundation a charity?
The SignItNow Foundation is a charitable organization that leverages the SignItNow platform alongside in-country training, communications, and capacity-building to further its mission.
By contrast, SignItNow (the platform) is a mission-driven public-benefit company focused on building and operating the technology that supports citizen-led campaigning.
(If you need country-specific charitable status details, list them here.)
Why does the Foundation solicit donations?
To keep powerful organizing tools free for everyone and to expand program work that helps campaigns succeed. The Foundation is funded by a mix of small donations and philanthropic grants and reinvests revenue into mission-advancing activities.
What if we can’t show the petition to the exact number of people indicated?
We make every effort to meet the estimated delivery. If the petition wins, goes inactive, or violates our Community Guidelines, delivery may change—see the Refund policy above if you’re dissatisfied.
How do I report abusive content?
SignItNow hosts content from a wide range of viewpoints. We don’t fact-check or endorse user content, including petitions connected to donations. If you see content that violates our Community Guidelines, log in and click Report a policy violation on the petition page, or email contact@signitnow.org with a link and details. Our team reviews all reports.
