What are Promoted Petitions?
Promoted Petitions are ads that push a petition to more people across SignItNow and our distribution channels. Like “boosted posts,” you (or the petition starter) can pay to show any petition to likely supporters beyond your own network.
How do I promote a petition?
After you sign a petition, you may see a Chip in to promote option. Anyone can chip in—signers, supporters, or the petition starter.
What happens:
- Prompt after signing – Choose to chip in, share on social, or skip.
- Choose an amount – We show an estimated reach (how many extra views your contribution buys).
- Preview – See how the ad will look (image, title, current signatures, “Sign” button).
- Pay securely – Use card or PayPal; saving your details is optional.
- Confirmation – Your contribution is converted into ad impressions that bring new eyes (and signatures) to the petition.
How do Promoted Petitions work?
- Some supporters are invited to promote a petition after signing.
- The more people chip in, the more people will see the petition.
- You control how much you contribute and can stop anytime.
- We provide feedback on the extra exposure your contribution helped deliver.
Promotions complement free sharing (social/email) by reaching people outside your immediate network.
How do promotions help petitions?
Every contribution funds delivery of the petition to larger audiences of action-takers. More reach → more signatures → more momentum—helping attract media, influence decision-makers, and move campaigns toward victory.
As a petition starter, can I turn promotions off?
Yes. If you’re the petition starter and want promotions disabled for your petition, contact contact@signitnow.org.
Note: With promotions off, your petition won’t be recommended to other users via on-site placements or email.
Are promotions the same as fundraising?
No. Promotions don’t raise money for petition starters. They buy reach so your petition is seen by more potential supporters. If you need to fund a cause, use a dedicated fundraising tool—promotions serve a different purpose.
Payments & security
- Processors: We use Stripe (cards) and Braintree/PayPal (PayPal).
- Data handling: Payments are processed under each provider’s Terms of Service. If you choose, Stripe can securely store your card for faster checkout next time. SignItNow does not store PayPal card details.
- Fees: We don’t add processing fees. Charges are in USD; your bank may apply currency or international fees.
Why does SignItNow charge for promoted petitions?
Sharing is free—and sometimes petitions go viral—but most need an extra push. Paid promotion costs money to deliver at scale. We keep powerful tools free for everyone by funding the platform with ethical advertising and voluntary contributions like these.
Refund policy
Not satisfied with a promotion? We’ll refund your contribution for any reason within 3 months of payment.

We try to deliver the estimated views your contribution covers. In some cases (e.g., the petition wins, goes inactive, or violates our Community Guidelines) exact delivery may vary. Please follow applicable laws in your location when promoting petitions. We may decline refunds in cases of abuse.
Reporting abuse
SignItNow is an open platform used by people with many viewpoints. We don’t fact-check or endorse user content, including promoted petitions. If you see a violation of our Community Guidelines, log in and click Report a policy violation on the petition page, or email contact@signitnow.org. Our team reviews all reports.
Is SignItNow a charity?
No. We’re a mission-driven public-benefit company focused on empowering people to create change. Promotions help keep our core tools free and widely available.
